Holidays
by Jeff Boulton - Wednesday, 21 December 2011, 11:00 AM

Over the holidays please think about the work left to do for Semester I. All work must be submitted to your online teacher by Jan 13th. Setup a schedule to complete your work so that all submitted work is completed. Suggestion: Do work over the holiday everyday in small amounts of time – don’t try to do all the work on the last day of holidays.

Over the Christmas Holidays your online teachers will be on holidays which means they may not be responding to your emails or marking your assignments. Online teachers will be off from Dec 22nd – Jan 3rd. Please save your questions and work until Jan 4th.

Note: your online teacher(s) may have assignment due dates which you should have been following throughout the semester. Work not submitted by the due dates (or agreed upon dates) will not be marked.

Final exams can be written in the first two days of your final exam period – please communicate with your online teacher and cooperation teacher to set a time and date.

Have a relaxing and safe holiday!!

Timing of Assignments
by Jeff Boulton - Tuesday, 20 September 2011, 09:51 AM

As you work through your courses try to time the completion of your assignments so that you can send it to your teacher, have it marked/graded, returned to you prior to your evaluations.

Feedback on your assignments is crucial on how well you do on your evaluations (projects/exams...etc).

When students submit all of their unit work on Sunday and want to write their test or start a project on Monday - there is not enough time for the teacher to mark/grade the work and to give feedback for the student prior to writing the exam or starting their project.

  • Complete an assignment send it in
  • Don't wait until you are done all of the unit to send in your work to the teacher
  • Review the feedback from your teacher
  • Ask questions about the work - redo questions you don't understand
  • Complete the evaluation (project/test/quiz ...etc)

Welcome Back!
by Jeff Boulton - Monday, 22 August 2011, 11:46 AM

On behalf of the Prairie South Virtual School staff I would like to welcome you to the start of the 2011-2012 school year.

Online classes are convenient and flexible but you have to be disciplined enough to make time to study and participate.  Successful online students:

  • Log in regularly to their classes, usually at least three times per week
  • Plan to ensure enough time to study and complete assignments
  • Take notes as they study
  • Commit 6 - 9 hours per week per class
  • Enjoy communicating in writing and reading the writing of others
  • Be able to work with others via email and chat to complete projects and assignments
  • "Speak up" – ask questions, to their teachers when problems arise

Good luck!!
